Abstract: As for curved tunnels, it is unclear how to determine the most-dangerous location of fire accident, the calculation method of critical velocity, as well as the configuration of disaster-prevention jet fan. Based on the analysis of typical fire scenarios in curved tunnels, it was suggested that the design of ventilation for disaster prevention should be considered in case of the fire accident occurred at the convex wall in the steady stage of curved tunnels. The factors which affected the critical velocity of curved tunnels were summarized and the correction coefficient on fire location, curve radius and tunnel slope were proposed respectively. The calculation method for the number of operating jet fans for disaster prevention in curved tunnels had been figured out.
