Model test study on surface collapse induced by underground excavation disturbance based on PIV technique |

Abstract Presently, the occurrence mechanism of the surface collapse induced by underground excavation was not clear. In view of this situation, the surface collapse induced by underground excavation in sand and surrounding rock of grade V was studied by model test based on the PIV technique. The displacement nephograms of the surface collapse induced by underground excavation were obtained and the progressive evolution rule of the surface collapse was summarized. Moreover, the collapse surface was calculated by the limit analysis of upper bound theorem and variational method. By comparing the collapse surface provided by theoretical calculation with that obtained from model test, the validity of the collapse mode presented by model test paper was proved.
